Lifelong El Pasoan, Church Member

Reverend Amelia C. Elmore was born and reared in El Paso Texas. She is the younger of two daughters born to Tommie and Elizabeth Elmore. She is the mother of Elizabeth Collins and Robert Lee Robinson II and the grandmother of nine grandchildren.

Reverend Elmore attended Douglass Elementary School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University and she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Over the past 43 years she has held various positions in the nursing field which include the last 20 years as a school nurse in the El Paso Independent School District.

Reverend Elmore is a life time member of Second Baptist Church where she has served faithfully as an usher, custodian, praise dancer, church clerk, choir member and Bible Study and Sunday School teacher. She was also active in the Women’s Missionary Union. In 2005 she answered her call to preach and teach the Gospel and was licensed to preach under the mentorship of Reverend Dr. James Brockington. She then pursued further education in Christian studies in obedience to the Holy Bible:

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

II Timothy 2:15 KJV

Reverend Elmore enrolled in Howard Payne University and graduated in December, 2009 receiving a BAAS in Christian Studies and Theology.

Historical Church Leader

Reverend served as an associate minister of Second Baptist Church form 2005-2014. In September 2012 she was ordained under the mentorship of Pastor William J. Perkins. From 2014 to 2015 she served as Interim Pastor of Second Baptist Church and in July 2015 she became the Pastor of Second Baptist Church making her the first woman to be installed as Pastor in the history of the church.

But none of these things move me: nor do I count my life dear to myself,
so that I may finish my race with joy and the ministry which I received of the Lord Jesus,
to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
